Learning Accents and Dialects Workshop

  • Up Front at Shadowbox Live 503 South Front Street Columbus, OH, 43215 United States (map)

In this course, improvisers and actors will gain knowledge and practice through researching and preparing dialects that are commonly used in dramatic texts, via the phonemic alphabet. Skills learned in this class help the actor become more versatile and rounded performer. Improvisers will also gain the ability to adapt methods learned in class to discovering new dialects and how to produce them.

In other words:

-Learn the techniques needed to speak in Irish, British or other accents
-Explore the phonetics of different accents and apply that knowledge to learn more accents on your own
-Understand the difference between similar accents and how to transition easily between them

This course is both for improvisers and actors with a broad range of experience. So whether you're new to the game, or want to fine tune your repertoire, this class is for you!

Ages 16 and up!
